Suspect: Lawrence Bender, 29-year-old resident of San Bernardino

Original Information:
On Saturday, June 29, 2019, at approximately 8:11pm, an officer from the Rialto Police Department was involved in a physical altercation with Lawrence Bender in the 400 block of North Macy Street in the City of San Bernardino. During the altercation, an officer involved shooting occurred. Officers immediately rendered medical aid to Bender until Fire Department personnel and paramedics arrived. The suspect was transported to a local area hospital. The San Bernardino Police Department responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The officer’s name will not be released at this time due to pending interviews. Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the San Bernardino Police Department’s Investigations Bureau.
