COVID-19 Update: Daily Situation Report (June 18, 2020) See details:

Current Initiatives and Updates

  • Reduce Your Risk of COVID-19 - Avoid the Three C's 1) Confined Spaces - especially with poor ventilation. Outdoors is better than indoors. 2) Crowds – the more people, the higher the risk. 3) Close Contact – staying further apart is safer than being close together. The more C's, the higher the risk!
  • Manhattan Beach Moves to Phase 3 of Reopening Parks and Facilities - Following the easing of Los Angeles County Public Health Order on June 12, the City of Manhattan Beach moves into phase 3 of The Roadmap to Reopen City Parks and Facilities and reopens Sand Dune Park Stairs with one way access up the stairs located on the north side and one way access down the south side of the grassy area. In addition, on June 22, the REC camp will begin at Live Oak Park and Begg Pool Will reopen for swim programs. Additional camps will begin July 6 with modifications. Lastly, on July 13, the Skate Spot and Sand Dune will reopen as will modified outdoor fitness classes. Visit www.mbparksandrec.com for more information.

Federal, State, and County Updates

  • County Releases New Health Order - Effective tomorrow, the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health has issued a revised Public Health Order allowing additional business sectors to re-open. Among the businesses now permitted with restrictions are: personal care establishments (i.e. nail, tanning, lash salons, estheticians, cosmetology services, massage, and skin care), and bars, among others. Prior to re-opening, businesses must implement protocols indicted in the health order. Re-opening protocols are listed in the City’s “Recover MB.”
  • County Requirement for Face Coverings – Under the new County Health Order, anyone outside their home must wear a face covering when in or likely to be in conctact with non-household members, in order to lower the risks of person-to-person contact for themselves and others. Visit the Centers for Disease Control for guidance on how to properly wear and care for your face covering and the Los Angeles Department of Public Health for information on how to reduce your risks of contracting COVID-19 outside of your home.
  • CDC Guidelines for Running Errands and Going Out – The Center for Disease Control (CDC) published guidelines to Safely Running Errands and Going Out amidst COVID-19. CDC suggests online banking when possible. What do you need to know when leaving home, what should you have with you when buying groceries and getting gas? For answers to these questions and more information, visit cdc.gov.
  • Discover Your Antibody Status When Giving Blood - For a limited time, the American Red Cross will test all blood, platelet and plasma donations for COVID-19 antibodies as an additional health service to donors. Testing will provide insight into whether donors may have been exposed to coronavirus. The Red Cross is committed to helping others in meaningful ways during the pandemic. The Red Cross needs blood donations. Help save lives and gain insight to your exposure to COVID-19. Sign up to donate. Visit redcrossblood.org for more information.
  • What to Expect When Dining Out - As restaurants re-open and patrons return to our local favorites, reference L.A. County Department Public Health (DPH) COVID-19 Dine-In Restaurants Toolkit that defines preventative measures and supports safe and clean environments for workers and customers.
  • L.A. County Daily Briefing Statistics on COVID-19 – DPH has confirmed 36 new deaths and 1,051 new cases of COVID-19 in today's daily briefing. There are a total of 3,027 deaths; ninety-four percent of people who died had underlying health conditions. Testing capacity continues to increase in L.A. County, with testing results available for over 868,000 individuals and 8% of people testing positive. To view DPH's COVID-19 Surveillance Dashboard, visit lacounty.gov. To view L.A.
