County Releases New Health Order Allowing Personal Care Establishments, Bars, and Other Business Sectors to Re-Open - Press Release:

County Releases New Health Order
Personal Care Establishments, Bars, Wineries and Other Business Sectors to Re-Open

Manhattan Beach, CA (June 19, 2020) - Effective today, the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health has issued a revised Public Health Order allowing additional business sectors to re-open. Among the businesses now permitted with restrictions are: personal care establishments (i.e. nail, tanning, lash salons, estheticians, cosmetology services, massage, and skin care), and bars, among others. The Public Health Order, as revised, can be found on the Department of Public Health’s website.

Additionally, the County has further ordered that anyone outside their home wear a face covering when in or likely to be in contact with non-household members, in order to lower the risks of person-to-person contact for themselves and others. Visit the Centers for Disease Control for guidance on how to properly wear and care for your face covering and the Los Angeles Department of Public Health for information on how to reduce your risks of contracting COVID-19 outside of your home.

“We all have a role in our recovery. If we do our part to protect ourselves and others, our road to full recovery will be stronger and shorter. Wearing a face covering, washing your hands, and staying home when you are sick are simple ways to save lives,” said Mayor Richard Montgomery. “I am very pleased that more elements of our community are permitted to reopen as we take this important step in healing our local businesses.”

Prior to re-opening, businesses must implement protocols indicted in the health order. Re-opening protocols are listed in the City’s “Recover MB” webpage at www.citymb.info/RecoverMB and the County Department of Public Health’s website.

Under the revised order, the County of Los Angeles continues to maintain closures on movie theaters, live performance theaters, lounges/nightclubs, entertainment centers, concert halls and venues, stadiums, arenas, theme parks, and festivals.

The County continues to monitor the spread of the virus and the healthcare system's capacity to provide residents with essential services. However, if at any time, the County’s rate of infection and other key metrics demonstrate a rapid acceleration of new cases that threatens to overwhelm the healthcare system, the County may need to limit future re-openings or close re-opened sectors.

The Order emphasizes that physical distancing requirements, face coverings, and other safety protocols must be implemented and observed as the recovery progresses.
