Personal Injury Traffic Crash


Sheriff Richard J. Behnke, reports that on 06/20/2020 at approximately 1858 hours, his office was called to investigate a personal injury accident near the intersection of US-12 and Union Rd., in Porter Township, Cass County Michigan.

Investigation shows that a 46 year old Earl Horner, was turning into the Horizon Bank parking lot. Horner stated that the sun had gotten into his eyes and he did not see the vehicle traveling westbound driven by 37 year old Ryan Johnson from Bronson, Michigan. Johnson’s passengers include Tonya Derr 46 year old from Bronson, Michigan, David Derr 15 years old from Bronson, Michigan and Aria Arredondo 2 years old also from Bronson, Michigan. All subjects were checked out by Porter Township Ambulance and released. Edwardsburg Ambulance transported Earl Horner to Elkhart General Hospital for his injuries sustained in the traffic crash.

Seatbelts and a Child Safety Seat were utilized by all parties involved in the traffic crash. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the traffic crash.
