Costa Mesa PD joins the Neighbors app to connect with residents about local crime captured on Ring video
COSTA MESA, Calif. (June 22, 2020) -- The Costa Mesa Police Department (CMPD) is pleased to announce they have joined the Neighbors app by Ring to connect with residents about real-time, local crime captured on video with the aim to help make our neighborhoods safer. The Neighbors network has millions of users and can assist law enforcement in solving crimes, burglaries, and keeping neighborhoods safe.
Residents with a Ring camera can download the free Neighbors app, join their neighborhood, and use the app to monitor neighborhood activity, share crime and safety-related videos, photos and text-based posts, and receive real-time safety alerts from their neighbors, local law enforcement and the Ring team.
CMPD will only be able to see the content a resident chooses to post to the Neighbors app or submit in response to a voluntary request.
The Neighbors app will not be monitored 24/7. Please do not report a crime through the Neighbors App with a post or comment. If you need to report a crime, call the CMPD non-emergency line, (714) 754-5252. In case of an emergency, call 911.
We look forward to connecting with Costa Mesa residents on the Neighbors app to build safer neighborhoods.
