DWI Motor Vehicle Crash 
On Monday, June 22, 2020 at 4:20p.m. patrol units were dispatched to Rt. 30 westbound in the area of the Travelodge Hotel for a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival it was discovered two vehicles were involved in the crash with one vehicle rolling over into the marsh. The driver of that vehicle was found to have injuries and was transported to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center- City Campus by the Absecon EMS Squad.
The driver of the second vehicle, Vishal H. Patel 31 of Egg Harbor City, was arrested and charged with Assault by Auto, DWI, Reckless Driving, Racing, and several other motor vehicle violations. The four additional occupants of Mr. Patel’s vehicle refused medical treatment on scene. It was reported by witnesses that Mr. Patel’s vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and was passing on the shoulder of the roadway.
The White Horse Pike (Rt. 30) westbound was closed to traffic for approximately two hours while the crash was being investigated. The Police Department was assisted by Absecon EMS and the Absecon Fire Department.
