SUMMARY:
On Monday, June 22, 2020, at about 11:00 pm, Deputy Bremer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for false license plate tabs. Upon contact with the driver, Regina Broomall was found to have a suspended driver’s license. The passenger, Brandon Bannick, was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm. A records check of the firearm revealed it had been reported stolen out of the Fresno area. An additional search of the vehicle revealed over 100 grams of suspected heroin and methamphetamine as well as other indicia related to the sales of narcotics. Bannick had been arrested for narcotics sales and possession of a firearm last month but had been released from custody. In compliance with the statewide Emergency Bail Schedule, bail for most misdemeanor and felony offenses must be set at $0. Because of this criteria, Bannick was released from custody following the booking process.
Both suspects were transported and booked at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga. A bail enhancement was requested for both suspects and a Superior Court judge granted a $300,000 bail for each based on the circumstances surrounding the case.
