Major Injury Traffic Collision in San Anselmo
Central Marin Police are investigating a rollover traffic collision that occurred in San Anselmo early this morning.
On Tuesday June 23rd at 6:54 a.m. officers responded to 9-1-1 calls reporting an injury traffic collision at the Hub in San Anselmo. The solo vehicle collision involved a Jeep Cherokee that was driving eastbound on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. The Jeep was observed by other law enforcement agencies in the area shortly before the collision as it was travelling at a high rate of speed. As the vehicle approached Spaulding Street, it swerved into the westbound SFD lanes, rolled over, and came to rest adjacent to the main intersection. The vehicle was never observed by Central Marin Police units prior to the collision. The male driver was the only occupant of the Jeep. He appears to have been ejected and was found in the roadway.
Ross Valley Fire Department paramedics treated the 31-year-old driver and transported him to MarinHealth Medical Center with severe injuries.
The Central Marin Police Traffic Unit is conducting the collision investigation with support from the San Rafael Police Accident Investigation Team. The investigation is ongoing and has yet to determine if drugs or alcohol were a factor. The westbound lanes of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard remained closed for several hours while the scene was processed.
Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Traffic Unit Supervisor Cpl. Scott Niklewicz at 415.927.5150.
