Message from the Knowlton Tax Office regarding Third Quarter Tax Bills

A Message from the Knowlton Tax Office / June 23, 2020:

Knowlton Township residents will be receiving estimated tax bills for August shortly. Estimated bills are being used since the State, due to the public health emergency, extended budget deadlines along with changing the end of its fiscal year to September 30th instead of June 30th. Due to this situation is not known when the final tax rate for 2020 will be available. In order to meet the township’s payment obligations, the Township determined to use the maximum percentage of increase of 105% of the 2019 rates as permitted by the State. It is not known if there will be an increase in the county or school taxes or any changes in the amount of aid to be provided by the state as it completes its budget. Once the final rate is received it will be used to generate bills for November of 2020 along with February and May of 2021. The amount for November will be different than August to make sure your total taxes for the year are based upon the final tax rate. Estimated bills are being sent to the banks for those with mortgages along with advice copies to the owners.
