COVID-19 Update: Daily Situation Report (June 23, 2020) See details:

Current Initiatives and Updates

  • COVID-19 Remains a Threat; Wear Face Coverings - County and City officials continue to monitor the spread of the virus and the healthcare system's capacity to provide residents with essential services. Over the past week, the 7-day average of the daily positivity rate for Los Angeles County residents has increased to 8.8%. In Manhattan Beach specifically, the City has averaged two new daily positive cases per day. With recent re-openings, L.A. County is in Phase 3 of the Roadmap to Recovery. It is possible the County's rate of infection and other vital metrics demonstrate a need to limit future re-openings or close re-opened sectors. Therefore, it is important that everyone practice social distancing and wear face coverings when outside the home per the State and County guidelines. Also, avoid the three C’s 1) Confined Spaces - especially with poor ventilation. Outdoors is better than indoors. 2) Crowds – the more people, the higher the risk.  3) Close Contact – staying further apart is safer than being close together.  The more C's, the higher the risk!
  • Citywide Parking Violations Enforcement Resume on Monday, June 29 - The City resumed citywide street sweeping of public streets on June 15. To allow residents time to adjust to the resumption of service, a grace period was provided before street sweeping parking restrictions would be enforced. This grace period is ending. As a reminder, tickets for all parking violations will be issued beginning Monday, June 29. Residents should begin to comply with the posted parking signs once again.
  • Change to COVID-19 Updates to Twice-A-Week – The City of Manhattan Beach remains committed to providing the community with critical information and updates on the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting this week, COVID-19 Situation Report will be twice-a-week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Should any COVID-19 or new developments happen, the City will release timely information using platforms that include: Nixle Public Safety Alerts, FacebookTwitterNextdoor, Instagram, and post content on the City's website.
  • Virtual #CoffeewiththeMayor Tomorrow at 3:00 PM - Join Mayor Montgomery tomorrow afternoon for an hour in a casual conversation from the comfort of your home. Get to know the Mayor, convey a concern, ask a question, or just listen to the conversation. Email questions in advance to ensure Mayor Montgomery answers all items in the hour. For more information and Zoom meeting details, visit the City's website.
  • City Council to Consider Budget Adoption on Thursday  – At the Thursday, June 25 City Council meeting at 12 PM, Council will consider adopting the Fiscal Year 2020-2021 budget and five-year Capital Improvement Plan. View the agenda and attachments on the City's website. In the interest of maintaining appropriate social distancing, the City Council encourages the public to participate by using one of the options to submit public comments found on the City's website.
  • City Council Meeting Schedule Changes Beginning June 30 – While the threat of COVID-19 continues, topics for City Council no longer require multiple meetings per week. Beginning Tuesday, June 30, the City Council will meet one time a week on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 PM.
