Palmdale Detectives Seeking Mail Theft Victim's...
On Tuesday, 06/23/2020, on the 4000th block of West Avenue L-8, in the City of Lancaster, Palmdale Sheriff’s Station detectives executed a search warrant that resulted in the recovery of thousands of pieces of mail.
The mail recovered included personal mail, prescription medications, and packages. Detectives also recovered a vandalized community mailbox that had been stolen and cut open.
Detectives arrested Kenneth Thompson, 36, of Lancaster and booked him on charges of forgery and identity theft. He has a bond of $150,000.
Because of the massive amount of stolen mail, there are multiple victims.

Mail theft in Palmdale area has been a reoccurring crime trend. Here are a few tips to help keep your mail secure:
- Do not allow your mail to accumulate. Check your mailbox on a regular basis.
- Get to know your mail carrier’s delivery time. Retrieve your mail as soon as possible.
- Be sure your mailbox door is completely locked and secure.
- Encourage your neighbors residing closest to the community mail box to point their home surveillance cameras at an angle where the mailbox’s can be seen. This will help law enforcement to help catch any mail theft suspects on video.
- Report any suspicious activity around your mailbox to your local sheriff/ police department.
