On June 20, 2020 Fairfax Officers responded to and investigated a disturbance at Fairfax Park (Bolinas Road at Elsie Lane). The investigation revealed that an adult male and an adult female verbally harassed a 17-year-old Transgender male. Video of the altercation was provided to officers.
The video corroborated the statements provided by witnesses and the victim. Statements made and directed to the victim consisted of derogatory comments about the victim’s gender, sexual orientation and genitalia.
With the help of the Fairfax Community at large we received many calls and emails identifying the two persons seen in the video which had been posted on social media sites.
We have completed our investigation and interviews. We have sent the investigative case to the Marin County District Attorney’s office requesting that criminal charges be filed against the involved 67-year-old female and 58-year-old male for the following:
Hate crimes will not be tolerated and will always be investigated seriously and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

- 415.3 p.c. Using offensive words in a public place which are inherently likely to provoke and immediate violent reaction
- 422.6(a) p.c. Civil Rights Violation (hate crime) based on gender/Sexual Orientation
Hate crimes will not be tolerated and will always be investigated seriously and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
