Flood Warning until 06:30PM
At 508 PM EDT, flooding remains a concern in the warned area. Up to 3 inches of rain fell this afternoon in parts of the warned area and additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is possible during the next hour, especially in the western parts of the county. Smyth County Emergency Management reported that at least three roads in the county were closed due to flooding. Additional heavy rain could result in more flooding as well as mudslides in areas of steep terrain. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Marion... Tazewell... Cedar Bluff... Mount Rogers National Recreation Area... Sugar Grove... Nebo... and Amonate. This includes the following streams and drainages... South Fork Clinch River, Lynn Camp Creek, North Fork Holston River, North Fork Clinch River and Bluestone River.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
