Flash Flood Watch until 01:00PM

...THREAT FOR HEAVY RAIN CONTINUES THROUGH MIDDAY... The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* Portions of central Illinois, southeast Illinois, and west central Illinois, including the following areas, in central Illinois, Christian, Menard, Sangamon, and Shelby. In southeast Illinois, Clay and Effingham. In west central Illinois, Cass, Morgan, Schuyler, and Scott.

* Until 1 PM CDT this afternoon

* Rainfall since early Tuesday morning ranged from 1.5 to 3 inches in areas from near Rushville to Springfield to Flora. Additional rain up to 1 inch with locally higher amounts is possible in these same areas during this morning as more showers and thunderstorms move in from the Mississippi river valley.

* Additional heavy rainfall may result in flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas, small streams, and urban areas. Rises on larger streams and rivers will also be possible.

* AFFECTED AREAS: MENARD ... CLAY ... CHRISTIAN ... EFFINGHAM ... CASS ... SCHUYLER ... SANGAMON ... SCOTT ... SHELBY ... MORGAN

Instructions:

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Never drive across a flooded roadway. Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
