Following a probation search conducted on 07/01/20, detectives assigned to the Camarillo Police Special Enforcement Detail arrested Antonio Acevedo for being in possession of illegal fireworks.

In late June 2020, Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail detectives began an illegal fireworks investigation involving a Camarillo resident identified as Antonio Acevedo. Detectives confirmed Acevedo is currently on Ventura County felony probation for vehicle theft, with unconditional search terms.

On 07/01/20 at about 1:00 PM, Camarillo Special Enforcement Detectives contacted Acevedo in front of his residence in the 400 block of Camino Ruiz in Camarillo and subsequently conducted a probation search. During the search, approximately 50 pounds of various illegal dangerous fireworks were located in Acevedo’s bedroom which posed a threat of injury and fire not only to Acevedo’s residence and family, but also to the public. In addition, Detectives determined Acevedo was also under the influence of a controlled substance and in possession of illegal drug paraphernalia.  The illegal fireworks and drug paraphernalia were seized as evidence. Acevedo was issued a misdemeanor citation for violations of Health and Safety Code 11550(a)/Under the influence of a controlled substance, Health and Safety Code 11364 (a)/Possession of drug paraphernalia and Health and Safety Code Section 12677 / Misdemeanor possession of illegal fireworks, with a pending court date.
