Advisory
Hartz Avenue Closure Begins and will be a Mask Zone
Beginning at 4:00 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2020, Hartz Avenue will be closed from Diablo Road to School Street in order to allow restaurants to offer expanded outdoor seating and to create safer distances for pedestrians to walk through the area to shop and dine. The closure will occur each weekend through August, following action by the Danville Town Council in late June.
The closure area will have signage posted throughout letting visitors know that it is a Mask zone. When visiting the downtown area, visitors are asked to have a facial covering on. Social distancing is still recommended as well, but masks should be worn at all times, with the exception of when dining at a restaurant.
The Mask zone follows State of California guidelines to help limit the spread of coronavirus germs and curtail the rise in COVID-19 cases currently being seen in Contra Costa County and the State of California.
Each week the street closure will last from 4:00 a.m. Friday morning until 11:00 p.m. Sunday evening.
Reminder: Fireworks are Illegal in Contra Costa
The July 4 holiday is typically one where evenings are punctuated with the cracks and booms of fireworks. However, we would like to remind everyone that fireworks are not legal in Contra Costa County. Even so-called ‘safe and sane’ fireworks are not allowed.
The hills around Danville are extremely dry, and a stray firework could create a hazardous fire situation. Help avoid that potential threat by not shooting off fireworks.
Farmers Market Open July 4 Weekend
We have received questions from residents whether the weekly farmers’ market will be open for the holiday weekend. The market will be open during their normal hours of 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. A reminder, the market is open on a limited basis due to the Shelter in Place order, and masks and social distancing are required.
