UPDATE: Brian Michael Petit of Highland was arrested for vehicular manslaughter and hit and run causing injury/ death

SUSPECT: Brian Michael Petit, age 40 a resident of Highland
VICTIM: Annika Fullerton, age 11 a resident of Colorado
SUMMARY: UPDATE- Tuesday, July 7, 2020
Highland detectives continued their investigation and developed new information which lead to a search warrant being served at a residence in the 7400 block of Fire Oak Drive in the City of Highland. During the service of the search warrant, a vehicle was located in the garage with damage consistent with the initial investigation. Brian Petit was interviewed and at the conclusion of the interview he was arrested for PC192-Vehicular Manslaughter and VC20001- Hit and Run causing Injury/Death and was booked into the Central Detention Center.

UPDATE - Thursday, July 2, 2020
Highland detectives are continuing their investigation and believe they may have identified a possible suspect vehicle. The vehicle identified was corroborated by witness statements and video surveillance from a nearby business. The vehicle is a light-colored mini-van or cross-over type SUV. The attached photos depict the vehicle as dark, but the vehicle is a lighter color, possibly silver.

On Monday, June 29, 2020, at approximately 8:30 pm, deputies from the Highland Police Department responded to the intersection of Church Street and Glenheather Drive about a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle involved is a dark-colored SUV that was traveling south on Church Street when it collided with the pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle left the scene.
Deputies arrived at the location and found the pedestrian unresponsive on the side of the roadway. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
The Highland Police Department is still investigating the collision. Anyone who witnessed, or has information regarding the traffic collision, is urged to contact Deputy T.Houn or the Detective Bureau from the Highland Police Department.
