Press Release: Zero Bail Suspects Re-Arrested
On Friday, July 10, 2020 at approximately 11:53 pm, MBPD officers effected a traffic stop on a vehicle for vehicle code violations. A check of the vehicle’s VIN number revealed the vehicle was stolen. While taking inventory of the vehicle, officers located additional evidence including burglary tools. Three suspects were arrested but later released due to the Los Angeles County zero bail schedule.
On Saturday, July 11, 2020 at approximately 5:50 am, MBPD received a 911 call of an interrupted burglary to a garage in the 600 block of 6th Street. Three suspects were seen leaving the area southbound on Valley Drive. Their description matched that of the three arrestees from the earlier stolen vehicle. Officers quickly located two of the suspects in the area of 2nd Street and Ingleside Drive.
Approximately 30 minutes later, an officer located the outstanding suspect near Valley Drive and Francisco Street. MBPD then received multiple reports of thefts from motor vehicles and garage burglaries, all likely related to these same individuals.
All three suspects are still in custody at the Manhattan Beach Police Department’s jail. If you live in the above described areas and you were a victim of a theft from motor vehicle or garage burglary on Friday night or Saturday morning, please call our dispatch line at (310) 545-4566 to make a report.
