KCSO locates a submerged vehicle in the Buena Vista Aquatic Recreational Area
On July 12, 2020, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Kern County Sheriff's Office and Kern County Park Rangers received a call of a possible human bone located in Lake Webb at the Buena Vista Aquatic Recreational Area. KCSO detectives responded along with KCSO Search and Rescue. The search was suspended due to darkness and resumed today. At approximately 11:00 a.m., Search and Rescue divers located a submerged vehicle in the water near where the bone was located.
A tow truck was used to pull the vehicle from the lake. Additional human remains were located inside of the vehicle. At this time, the identity of the remains is unknown. The vehicle is related to a missing person report out of southern California from approximately three years ago. The identity of the remains will be released by the Coroner's Office at a later time.
