COVID-19 Update: Situation Report (July 14, 2020) See details:

Current Initiatives and Updates

  • Wear a Face Covering Around Others, It is Required – The curve can be flattened again, but we must all work together. It is imperative that we each keep others and ourselves safe by using a face covering in public and maintaining physical distance. Wearing a face covering at all times in public over both the nose and mouth lowers the risk of person-person contact for yourself and others. It is our community, our health, and our responsibility. Wear a face covering!
  • Shop and Dine with Confidence: Safe in the South Bay -The City partners with the Chamber of Commerce in the Safe in the South Bay campaign to inform the community of the L.A. County Department of Health Order Protocols emphasizing face covering requirements for businesses. Over the coming days, the City will visit restaurants and retail businesses throughout the City to inform them on how we can collectively take actions to stop the spread of COVID-19. Specifically, the City will emphasize that employees and customers must wear face coverings at all times. The only exception is that diners may remove the face covering while eating food and drinking beverages.  "Safe in the South Bay" is a pledge that businesses take that shows they are following the proper protocols to safely re-open and slow the spread of COVID-19 for their employees and customers. Shop and dine with confidence in Manhattan Beach when you spot the Safe in the South Bay sign. View the Press Release for more information.
  • Reporting Public Health Order Violations - As L.A. County continues to have significant community transmission, we must be extra diligent in helping slow the spread and NOT put our neighbors at risk of serious health complications, including death. If you see a Public Health Order Violation, report it. The Department of Public Health (DPH) has an online form (also available on the City's coronavirus page) where pictures of the violation may even be attached, but is not required. If you choose not to make a complaint online, contact the DPH Call Center at (888) 700-9995 Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (except holidays).
  • Virtual #CoffeewiththeMayor on Wednesday, July 15, 3:00 PM - Join Mayor Richard Montgomery for a casual conversation over a cup of coffee from the comfort of your own home on Wednesday, July 15, 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM via Zoom video conference! This is your opportunity to interact with the Mayor, get to know him, convey a concern, ask a question, or just listen to the conversation. To ensure Mayor Montgomery will be able to answer all items in the hour, please email questions in advance of Wednesday's virtual meeting. For more information and Zoom meeting details, visit the City's website.
  • Businesses Can Expand Dining or Retail Outdoors - Following the State and L.A. County Department of Public Health (DPH) Revised Order for the closure of indoor, in-person dining at restaurants, City Council took immediate action to assist Manhattan Beach Business Owners (see press release). Businesses interested in expanding dining or retail use outdoors should email the Community Development Department or call (310) 802-5520 to apply for an Outdoor Facilities Permit.
