Decedent: Altheia Taylor, 57 year old female resident of Rialto
SYNOPSIS:
On Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at approximately 3:42 a.m., the Rialto Police Department received several 9-1-1 calls reporting a traffic collision in the area of Ashford Ave. and Riverside Ave. in the City of Rialto. Officers from the Rialto Police Department responded to the scene and located a seriously injured female lying in the roadway (later identified as Altheia Taylor) and a Jeep Grand Cherokee at the scene. No other injuries were associated with this collision. Paramedics from the Rialto Fire Department transported Taylor to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The Rialto Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is conducting the investigation. Through roadway evidence and the driver’s statements, investigators have concluded that the Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling in the southbound #2 lane of Riverside Ave. from Locust Ave. Taylor was pushing a shopping cart in the middle of the southbound #2 lane of Riverside Ave. when she was struck by the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The driver remained at the scene, cooperated with investigators and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
