Advisory

The NWS has issued a Heat Advisory & Beach Hazards Statement for our area.

The National Weather Service has issued a HEAT ADVISORY for our area this afternoon into this evening. Heat index values from 100-106 are expected. Take extra precautions if you are outside. Children, the elderly and pets are especially vulnerable. Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke. Drink plenty of fluids.
In these conditions, PETS should NEVER be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. The hot weather will cause the interior of a vehicle to reach lethal temperatures in minutes.
A heightened risk of heat-related illness is possible, especially for those without air conditioning.
Please check up on friends, relatives, and neighbors who may be isolated to be sure they are not showing signs of heat-related illnesses.

Also, be advised a Beach Hazards Statement for dangerous swimming conditions is in effect from 1 PM this afternoon through this evening for General King Park and Kohler-Andrae State Park Beaches. High wave action, strong structural and longshore currents are expected. Rip currents are also possible.  Please do not overestimate your swimming abilities.  Thank you!
