INCIDENT: P.C. 29800 (A)(1) Felon in Possession of Firearm
LOCATION: E. 9th Street and Waterman Avenue, San Bernardino SUSPECT(S): Thomas Huerta, age 30 a resident of San Bernardino
SUMMARY: On July 13, 2020, at approximately 11:05 p.m., Deputy Lunde, from the Sheriff's Central Station, conducted a traffic stop in the area of E. 9th Street and Waterman Avenue in San Bernardino. Lunde contacted the driver and passenger of the vehicle. While Lunde returned to his vehicle to conduct a record check of the subjects and the vehicle, the passenger, later identified as Thomas Huerta, ran from the vehicle. Thomas Huerta was found to have an active probation violation, felony warrant. During the investigation, the deputy located a loaded 9mm handgun and about 60 rounds of 9mm ammunition in a bag with Huerta's EBT card and wallet. Huerta was identified by the driver.
On Thursday, July 16, 2020, Huerta was contacted again by deputies from Central Station during a traffic stop. Huerta was the passenger and ran from the vehicle. Huerta was later detained and arrested for HS 11378 Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sale and a felony warrant. He was booked into Central Detention Center. Huerta's case from the July 13th incident will be sent to the District Attorney's Office for filing.
