Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 04:30PM

The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Sangamon County in central Illinois... Eastern Morgan County in west central Illinois...

* Until 430 PM CDT.

* At 344 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Alexander to near Palmyra, moving northeast at 40 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include... Springfield, Chatham, Alexander, Auburn, Sherman, Rochester, Riverton, Pawnee, Williamsville, New Berlin, Waverly, Divernon, Loami, Franklin, Jerome, Southern View, Leland Grove, Grandview, Spaulding and Thayer. This includes the following highways... Interstate 55 between mile markers 77 and 106. Interstate 72 between mile markers 73 and 109.

* AFFECTED AREAS: MORGAN, IL ... SANGAMON, IL

Instructions:

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
