Town of Danville Update - July 21, 2020
Mask Order Requires a Community Effort
Under the county’s Shelter in Place (SIP) Order, residents are required to wear masks when outside and near others. This includes while waiting in line at businesses, sitting at the table waiting to order at a restaurant, on a hiking or biking trail when near others, and several other potential situations.
This requirement is being done to slow the spread of COVID-19 and prevent a rise in cases or hospitalizations in Contra Costa County. We recognize that wearing a mask is inconvenient, but we strongly encourage everyone to comply with the mask order so that as a community we can do our part to move forward with reopening of all businesses and services in Danville.
A reminder: wearing a mask is about protecting the other person. This is why it is important for all to wear them.
Checking on Elderly Friends and Family
Because many older residents are at-risk, they are staying home and sheltering rather than risk being exposed. If you have friends or family who have been sheltering in place, take a few minutes to call/text/email and check on their well-being or see if they need any assistance.
Ways you can help while being socially distant for safety:
1. Deliver food or groceries
2. Assist with outdoor tasks (putting out garbage bins, yardwork)
3. A simple phone conversation for human interaction
Supporting Danville Businesses
Many of Danville’s businesses and restaurants are open, either for curbside pickup or outdoor dining. And Hartz Avenue is closed each weekend to allow for a wider outdoor experience with room for pedestrian safety and social distancing. We encourage residents to continue to safely patronize our businesses to give them all the help you can during this emergency.
Ways you can help include:
1. Visit a business (safely masked and social distancing)
2. Order items for delivery or curbside pickup
3. Purchase gift cards to be used later or given as gifts
For business owners, tools and information are available on the Town’s website in the Small Business Resources.
Information on Danville’s businesses can be found on the Town’s website at www.danville.ca.gov/coronavirus.
