The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Northwestern Anne Arundel County in central Maryland... Howard County in central Maryland... Eastern Montgomery County in central Maryland... North central Prince Georges County in central Maryland...

* Until 445 PM EDT.

* At 354 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Olney to Aspen Hill, moving northeast at 25 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.

* Locations impacted include... Columbia, Rockville, Gaithersburg, Severn, Olney, Beltsville, Elkridge, Historic Ellicott City, Ellicott City, Aspen Hill, North Bethesda, Catonsville, Woodlawn, Montgomery Village, Laurel, Fairland, White Oak, Redland, Colesville and Kemp Mill.

* AFFECTED AREAS: ANNE ARUNDEL, MD ... PRINCE GEORGES, MD ... HOWARD, MD ... MONTGOMERY, MD

Instructions:

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
