Suspect arrested for possession of stolen farm equipment

On July 21, 2020, Kern County Sheriff’s Office Rural Crime Investigation Unit detectives, along with deputies from the North Area Substation, responded to the area of Highway 46 and Wildwood Road regarding employees from two different agriculture and farm companies locating their stolen chemical/water tank trailers. Detectives were advised a 1500 gallon chemical/water tank trailer and a 500 gallon chemical/water tank trailer were on a property in the area and the total value of both trailers is approximately $7,400. Detectives responded to the area and executed a search warrant on the property.

Benito Magana-Bucio, age 46 from Shafter, California, was contacted during the execution of the search warrant. During the investigation, Rural Crime Investigation Detectives determined the two trailers located on the property were stolen.

Magana-Bucio was arrested and booked for violation of PC 496(D)- Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and PC 487k- Theft of Agricultural Equipment.
