On July 21, 2020, deputies with the Kern County Sheriff's Office Southern Tri-County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (STC-HIDTA) served two search warrants in the Bakersfield area.
During the search of a property in the 1900-block of La France Drive, deputies located 57.6 grams of methamphetamine, several Xanax bars, two illegally possessed rifles, two firearm silencers, three illegally manufactured handguns and $3,932 in currency believed to be obtained from drug sales.
34-year-old Michael Zimmerman of Bakersfield was arrested and booked into the Central Receiving Facility on multiple felony charges including felon in possession of firearms, manufacturing an assault weapon, possession of a control substance while armed, possession of a controlled substance for sales, and possession of a stolen firearm. 24-year-old Lane Sessions and 33-year-old Jacob Whelden, both of Bakersfield, were arrested at the residence and booked for several active felony warrants.
During the search of a property in the 5800-block of Grizzly Peak Drive, deputies located 34 pounds of processed marijuana, seven illegal gaming machines, over 2,200 grams of cannabis concentrates, and $76,413 in currency believed to be obtained from drug sales.
31-year-old Richard Moran of Bakersfield and 27-year-old Jacqueline Veliz of Bakersfield were arrested and booked into CRF on multiple charges, including possession of marijuana for sales, keeping a place for controlled substance sales, felony child endangerment, illegal possession of gambling machines, and operation of a cannabis dispensary.
