Clayton County Set On Course For A Consecutive Third Year Of Crime Reduction! SHERIFF VICTOR HILL
While many jurisdictions across the nation are experiencing unprecedented increases in crime, that is far from being the case in Clayton County. Last year Clayton County law-enforcement officials were successful in reducing crime for a 2nd year in a row. Now the statistical data indicates that Clayton is on the right course for a third year reduction in crime! 2020 comparison to crime in the last 3 years in Clayton County shows homicides down 6%, rape down 24%, robbery down 43%, burglaries down 162%, theft down 16%, and auto theft down 31%. The only category that was up slightly up at 7% was aggravated assaults which is believed to be related to domestic disputes. Sheriff Victor Hill stated he has plans to address that crime category uptick which involves his elite Stalking Unit to lower this single digit uptick before the end of the reporting year. The Sheriff stated that once his plans are enacted, it will send a chilling message to domestic violence criminals that they will not soon forget.
“If you see a turtle sitting on a fence post, it did not get there by itself”.
Georgia State Representative Calvin Smyre
The downtrend of crime in Clayton County is the collaborative effort of what the Sheriff has referred to as “a dream team of all star players”! The teamwork and camaraderie with the Clayton County Police Department headed by master logistical strategist Chief Kevin Roberts has been paramount to this success. The relationships fostered by Chief Roberts with all of the Municipalities, College, and School Police Chiefs plays a key element which is bad news for the bad guys. Add to this the experience of District Attorney Tosha Mosely and Solicitor General Charles Brooks and it equals a consistent successful reduction in crime!
The majority of the credit for the successful war on crime will always go to the men and women on the frontlines who put their lives on the line everyday to “defend those who cannot defend themselves”. Without them, none of this would be possible. May God protect and defend them as they protect and defend Clayton County.
