Vehicle Break-Ins and Illinois Secretary of State License and Registration Extension
Frankfort and surrounding areas once again are seeing an increase in vehicle break-ins. The best way to prevent yourself from being a victim, is to lock your vehicle and NEVER leave keys or key fobs inside of your car. In the most recent incidents the vehicles were unlocked allowing easy access. Make it part of your nighttime routine to check and make sure your vehicles are locked and that overhead garage doors are closed. Although most of these occur in the nighttime hours, there have been instances of them happening during the daytime with offenders entering open garage doors to access vehicles. Video surveillance shows that some of these offenders may be armed. We ask that our residents not confront suspects and call 911 immediately to report criminal activity. Be aware of your surroundings and as always if you see or hear anything suspicious, contact the Frankfort Police Department immediately. It takes a partnership of working together to keep our community safe.
