Current Initiatives and Updates
- Comply, Contain, and Collaborate in Manhattan Beach – The City continues to urge the residents of Manhattan Beach to COMPLY with the Public Health Directives in place ~ continue to wear a face covering, stay 6 feet apart, wash your hands frequently, avoid touching your face and avoid gathering with people you don't live with. For us to remain on the Road to Recovery, we must all CONTAIN the virus ~ if you're feeling sick, stay home and call your doctor. We need your help to stop the virus in its tracks. And finally, COLLABORATE ~ we can't slow the spread of COVID-19 without you. The City continues to stress that our goal is to change behavior in a way that promotes the community's public health. Wear a face covering when outside your residence. Together, we can overcome COVID-19.
- Care for Yourself and Your Community – With local businesses that have taken the Safe in the South Bay Pledge, you can shop and dine locally in Manhattan Beach reassured businesses are actively following the L.A. County Health Protocols to protect their employees and customers and mitigating the spread of COVID-19. Supporting these businesses is another way to care for yourself, your community, and help stop the spread of the virus. Look for the Safe in the South Bay Pledge signs in the windows of the businesses you choose to shop and dine!
- Community Survey on COVID-19 Impact to Our Communities – Alert SouthBay, in partnership with Beach Cities Health District, requests your feedback. We first surveyed our residents at the start of the pandemic; we are back to check-in with you. Everyone is facing challenges during this unprecedented time. As we strive to help support our communities, your feedback is incredibly valuable to address concerns. The survey will remain open until August 7, 2020, at 8:00 AM. Testing priority at County sites is given to 1) people with symptoms, 2) people working or living in skilled nursing facilities, group homes, residential care facilities and persons experiencing homelessness, and 3) people who were in close contact with someone with COVID-19. The FDA has identified the manufacturers, distributors, and product names (94) of hand sanitizers that consumers should not use. Note: Methanol does not appear on the product label. Treat disposal of the hand sanitizer as hazardous waste. The agency encourages consumers to report adverse events or problems experienced with hand sanitizers to the FDA's MedWatch Adverse Event Online Reporting program.
