This is a message from the Matawan Police Department and the Office of Emergency Management:

The National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Warning and Flash Flood Watch for our area.  The storm is expected to impact our area tomorrow, August 4th., with the most dangerous conditions expected between 12 noon and 6:00 pm.  Heavy rain (2-4") and damaging high winds are expected. 

Potential impacts in this area include:

    - Damage to porches, awnings and sheds. 
    -  Unsecured lightweight objects blown about.
    - Many large tree limbs broken off. A few trees snapped or uprooted, but with greater numbers in places where trees are shallow rooted.          
    - Some fences and roadway signs blown over. A few roads impassable from debris, particularly near heavily wooded locations. Hazardous driving conditions on bridges and other elevated roadways.
    - Scattered power and communications outages.
 
Never drive through a flooded roadway. Remember, turn around don`t drown!
 
Closely monitor weather.gov, NOAA Weather radio or local news outlets for official storm information. Be ready to adapt to possible changes to the forecast. Ensure you have multiple ways to receive weather warnings.
