Advisory: Tropical Storm Isaias Preparedness
Dear Saddle Brook Residents & Businesses,
Tropical Storm Isaias is making its way up the coast. It looks like it will begin to affect us late tonight with the strongest parts of the storm hitting tomorrow (Tuesday August 4th) and lasting throughout the day and into Wednesday August 5th. Heavy rains and strong winds are expected.
Here are some things to do and to consider.
○ Tie down or bring in loose furniture, garbage cans and other loose items.
○ Take down or secure tents, canopy gazebos and pop ups;
○ If you are in street areas prone to flooding, you should move your vehicles to higher ground
○ If you have experienced flooding of your basement in the past, you should lift valuables and other items to a higher level, if possible
○ If you have a generator, ensure it is fueled and in proper working order
○ Ensure cell phones and charging banks are charged
○ Reach out to your senior family members, friends and neighbors. Ensure they have everything they need and they're aware that a storm is coming
NOTES:
Be prepared for potential roadway flooding and power outages.
Stay away from downed wires. Downed wires should always be considered live.
DO NOT run gasoline powered generators in enclosed spaces or garages (carbon monoxide poisoning can occur in closed spaces).
For power outages, call/notify PSEG at 1-800-436-7734.
The Township of Saddle Brook Office of Emergency Management will monitor this weather event and issue additional advisories as may be applicable.
