Our Crisis Negotiator was able to de-escalate the situation 
On Sunday night, our patrol officers responded to a call for service at a grocery store in which a 27-year-old man was on the roof parking lot vandalizing surveillance cameras with an axe. Obviously, a potentially tense situation for our patrol officers was made worse when the man refused to drop the axe.
Our patrol teams have Crisis Negotiators for this very kind of situation. You can see him in the first photo.
After some discussion, our Crisis Negotiator was able to de-escalate the situation and the man was taken into custody without further incident. He was under the influence and found to be in possession of narcotics.
This is always our goal in situations we face almost every day– a safe conclusion to every incident.
