STAY AWAY FROM UTILITY WIRES - WIDE SPREAD POWER OUTAGE & GRID DAMAGE IN S.R. - More info @
Saddle River OEM/PD
Saddle River has suffered substantial damage to the electrical grid. Most of this destruction came from falling trees downing power lines and breaking utility poles. Optimum Cable and Verizon have also suffered substantial damage to their infrastructure. Many roads are still blocked by utility wires and trees.
All of the utility companies have been notified of these situations and will be prioritizing their responses.
STAY AWAY FROM ANY & ALL POWER OR CABLE LINES, ALWAYS. In a previous storm, a Bergen County man was killed when he tried to move a power line he assumed was not energized.
Some restorations estimates are over 5 days out ! Have a plan if you’re in one of those zones.
The most accurate restoration estimates will always come from the utility providers. Please call them or use their outage Apps to communicate with them. The police desk does not have that information available, please don’t call the Dispatcher asking for restoration information.
The below instructions are from Orange & Rockland,
