Tropical Storm Isaias Impact

SUBJECT: Tropical Storm Isaias Impact

DATE: 08/04/20

LOCATION: Township Wide

NARRATIVE: On August 4th 2020, The Township of Ocean Police Department responded to numerous calls for service related to the effects of Tropical Storm Isaias. Within a 24-hour period, the department responded to 288 calls for service. Of these calls for service, three residences within the township had sustained damage from trees that had been knocked down from heavy winds associated with the storm. A residence on Bauer Avenue sustained heavy damage and was ultimately deemed unsuitable to be inhabited. Also at that location, an adult male had sustained minor injuries as a result of the falling tree. The male was treated by the Hatzalah First Aid Squad and later refused additional medical treatment. Residences on Pinewood Avenue and Delaware Avenue had also been struck by falling trees but sustained only minor damage. Many of the roadways within the township were also negatively impacted but the OT Road Department has been working to make sure all roadways are clear. JCP&L is also working to restore power to all areas affected.
