90% of Town without power (including Town Hall), see email/link for details and update from Eversource

Currently 90%+ of the town is without power.   Public Works has cleared the roads that they are able to.  Additoinal clearing requires cooperation from Eversource due to safety.  Roads still closed include  Spring Lake Road, Wanzer Hill,  Andersen Road East,  Oak Drive and Hemlock Drive  and Holiday Point Road.   Please be careful, only drive when necessary and becareful as numerous trees are still on lines.

In the wake of yesterday’s devastating storm that has caused significant damage to CT’s electric system, here is an update on Eversource’s game plan for today:

  • We’ve been working around- the-clock to assess the extensive damage to our system, and that process will continue intently today.
  • We have been able to restore over 100,000 customers through “smart switches” on the system as well as restoring power to hospitals and other critical facilities.  We are also focused on working to stabilize the New England transmission system.
  • A top priority today is clearing roads, and we are committed to partnering with you and first responders to respond to life-threatening emergencies and clear roads so that residents and emergency vehicles can pass.
  • Given the extensive damage to the system, we expect this to be a multi-day restoration process, similar to Hurricane Sandy and other major weather events that wreaked widespread havoc on our electric system.
  • In addition to our crews who have worked tirelessly through the night since Tropical Storm Isaias hit yesterday afternoon, we are actively working to secure additional crews. We expect to increase our resources as neighboring states have available crews to help us.
 
We’re also aware that after the storm passed through Tuesday, we experienced technical issues that prevented some customers from reporting their outage via the website, call center and our mobile app. We worked through the night to restore those channels but have continued to experience intermittent issues with them.  We are asking customers who wish to report an outage or check on the status of one to visit Eversource.com and enter either their phone number or their Eversource account number. https://www.eversource.com/customercare/ReportOutage
