Narrative:
On August 6, 2020, at about 1:49 pm, the Thousand Oaks Police Department and the Ventura County Fire Department responded to an injury traffic collision in the intersection of Hillcrest Drive and Quinta Vista Drive.  Upon arrival, deputies discovered one of the vehicles engulfed in flames.  The occupant of the vehicle that was on fire was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
 
The initial investigation revealed one vehicle was traveling westbound on Hillcrest Drive and the other vehicle was travelling eastbound on Hillcrest Drive, when the two collided head-on near the center of the roadway.  The identity of the deceased is pending notification of next of kin by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office and the identity of the other driver is pending due to this being an ongoing investigation.
 
The cause of the collision is under investigation by the Thousand Oaks Police Department Traffic Bureau.  Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Deputy Andres Trujillo at (805) 947-8272.
