Press Release: NPD #2020-20645 Fruad Investigation & Arrests (Star Financial Bank, 9480 E. 146th Street, Noblesville)
Noblesville, IN – On August 5, 2020 at approximately 4:36 p.m., police officers from the Noblesville Police Department (NPD) were dispatched to the Star Financial Bank located at 9480 E. 146th Street (Noblesville) in reference to a report of a possible fraud in progress. Officers from the Fishers Police Department (FPD) arrived on the scene first and were able to locate the alleged suspects in a 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe with Florida registration plates. NPD officers arrived a short time later and began to invest.
Earlier in the day, NPD and FPD officers began receiving a number of complaints of potential fraud occurring in both Noblesville and Fishers. It was reported that several checks had been cashed at local banks after the recipient’s name and dollar amount had been altered. Officers worked with area banks and an informational bulletin was disseminated throughout the area warning of the suspicious activity. Alert employees of Star Financial Bank became suspicious when the alleged suspects came to their location and attempted a make a transaction. Bank officials responded by contacting the police.
The United States Postal Inspection Services is also a part of this ongoing investigation.
Investigators are encouraging citizens to be attentive to their bank records especially with respect to transactions that occurred over the past couple of days. If you notice any inconsistencies with your records, please contact Detective David Barnes at 317.776.6371.
Based on information collected and as a result of this investigation, preliminary charges have been filed. The suspects in the case were booked at the Hamilton County Jail on the following preliminary charges:
