Tropical Storm Isaias resulted in a widespread sustained power outage and the closure of several roadways in East Windsor Township, due to downed power lines and trees. Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Township officials have been reaching out pro-actively and continuously to the Governor's office, New Jersey legislators, representatives of Mercer County Office of Emergency Management and JCP&L, seeking information and power restoration action. Mayor Mironov has had direct and multiple communications with the President of JCP&L, daily, seeking more expedited restoration of power to our community and to express the Township's dissatisfaction with the JCP&L performance, poor response and utter lack of accurate agreeable information about the status and timelines to address the outage conditions.
JCP&L UPDATES: According to JCP&L, approximately 4,100 homes thus far have had electrical service restored since storm damage that left sustained power outages for 5,900 households in the Township. Approximately 1,812 homes remain without power as of 2 P.M. today. Mayor Mironov had further conversations today, August 7, with the executive leadership of JCP&L. The JCP&L President assured the Mayor that, "they are actively working on two projects that should restore full electrical service to approximately 1,100 additional households by the end of today Friday, August 7." JCP&L President further advised that, "they are currently generating more timely and accurate information for ETR restoration date and time notices which should become available today for Saturday, August 8 work for remaining customers." JCP&L further states that they have "scheduled three work projects for tomorrow, Saturday, August 8 that will restore electrical service to an additional approximately 500 households by end of day". The remaining households are expected to be restored by Sunday, August 9. Mayor Mironov and Township officials will continue to pro-actively push for better information and more expedited corrective schedules and action for local residents with JCP&L and all state officials.

East Windsor Township is providing the following services free of charge for residents affected by the storm damage to assist during the JCP&L response period. Residents accessing these public facilities for services are required to comply with New Jersey and Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines by wearing face masks and practicing safe social distancing.
MOBILE CHARGING: East Windsor has opened a 24/7 location for residents to charge mobile devices at the East Windsor Police/Court building lobby, 80 One Mile Road. A second mobile device charging station has been opened at East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2, 69 Twin Rivers Drive, available from 7 A.M. to 9 P.M.
INTERNET ACCESS: Residents can obtain free Wi-Fi internet access at Township library locations. The libraries are closed, but the Wi-Fi networks are available within the parking lot areas for those who need access for their mobile devices. The two local libraries, part of the Mercer County Library network, are located at 138 Hickory Corner Road (Hickory Corner Branch) and 276 Abbington Drive (Twin Rivers Branch).
EMERGENCY WATER: Water for household needs can be obtained from the East Windsor Police/Court, 80 One Mile Road and the East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2, 69 Twin Rivers Drive. Please bring containers for water filling from the publicly accessible water hoses at each site.
ROAD CLOSURES: The following Township roads remain closed due to storm damage, resulting from lack of JCP&L action or follow-up to date:
Old York Road (CR539) between Windsor-Perrineville Road and Sharon Road (possible live wires down). JCP&L work crews, as of this report, are currently working to make proper repairs to enable opening of this critical roadway.
Woods Road between Berwick Circle and Perrineville Road (possible live wires down). JCP&L tree contractors, as of this report, are clearing Woods Road of fallen trees in order to effect critical line repairs.
Route 33 between Davison Road and Maxwell Avenue (transformer/pole)
Residents are reminded to never approach downed wires. Please call the East Windsor Police Department at (609) 448-5678 ext. 0 to report downed wires.
