Mayor’s Message of August 9, 2020

This is West Caldwell Mayor Joe Tempesta with a public service announcement regarding the recent storm damage updates.

At the time of this call and I am recording this call at 5:30 p.m. this Sunday evening, PSE&G informs us that every street in West Caldwell is energized.

As a result, West Caldwell’s cooling and charging center is still open and will remain open only until 7:00 p.m. this evening. Our cooling/charging center is located at the West Caldwell Municipal building located at 30 Clinton Road.

The individual few homes that may be experiencing no power may have an issue with the electric service where the electricity enters their home or with their electrical box or certain appliances like air conditioning condenser units. If that’s the case and you have an electrician doing repairs, the Township will expedite whatever inspections are needed by our electrical inspectors to help get your individual home back up and running. Kindly call us at your convenience-during the normal business day kindly call the West Caldwell Construction office at 973-226-2300 or off hours kindly call the West Caldwell Police Desk non-emergency number at 973-226-4114.

Please be advised if you have storm debris you may put it out at the curb and the Department of Public Works will pick up this debris for the next 2 weeks. This pick up is only for storm related debris. If possible, kindly put the debris in 4 ft. bundles.

On behalf of the entire West Caldwell Mayor and Council we thank the residents and businesses for their patience and understanding throughout this storm and ensuing 5 days and we thank PSE&G for assisting us in getting the energy restored.

I am signing off tonight as our last storm update and will be back on my regularly scheduled COVID-19 update this coming Friday evening.

Please be safe, be strong and be West Caldwell.

Thank you.
