On Sunday, August 9, 2020 at approximately 10:40 a.m. the Guilderland Police Department, Guilderland Fire Department, Fort Hunter Fire Department, Guilderland EMS and Altamont Rescue Squad responded to a personal injury auto accident in the area of 5083 Western Turnpike. Donna L. Bold, age 58, of 33 Park Ave, Albany, NY was operating a 2014 Chevy Cruze eastbound on Western Turnpike. Her vehicle crossed into the westbound lane striking a 2011 Ford pickup towing a 2012 Trailex trailer being operated by Edward J. Smith, age 58, of 14 Magnolia Circle, Ravena, NY. The impact of the collision caused the trailers axle to come off. The axle then struck Joseph G. Ganance, age 47, of 515 Medway Earlton Road, Earlton, NY, who was standing next to the roadway near his parked vehicle. Ganance suffered a serious leg injury and was transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital by Altamont Rescue Squad and Guilderland EMS. Donna Bold and Edward Smith both suffered minor injuries and were also transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital. Donna Bold was arrested and charged with DWAI drugs and other traffic violations. She was processed and released on her own recognizance. This collision is still being investigated and additional charges may be filed.
