FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM NOON EDT TODAY THROUGH THIS EVENING...
The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a
* Flash Flood Watch for portions of northeast New Jersey and
southeast New York, including the following areas, in northeast
New Jersey, Bergen, Passaic, Essex, and Union, In southeast New
York, Rockland and Westchester.
* From 3PM EDT today through this evening
* Thunderstorms developing near a stalled frontal boundary this
afternoon will be capable of producing torrential rainfall,
with rainfall rates of up to 2 inches per hour possible.
* Torrential rainfall within a short period of time could cause
flash flooding of low lying, urban and poor drainage areas. Some
smaller streams could also exceed bank full.
Instructions: A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued. 128
