Narrative:
On August 11, 2020, detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Street Team concluded a narcotics sales investigation involving Ian Miller out of Simi Valley, who was involved in the sales of narcotics to residents of Ventura County.
During the month of July 2020, detectives obtained information indicating Miller was involved in the sales of methamphetamine and heroin in Ventura County. Detectives began an investigation into Miller.
On August 11, 2020, detectives conducted surveillance on Miller and observed him sitting in a vehicle in the 1700 Block of Crater Street in Simi Valley. Detectives and patrol deputies assigned to the Moorpark Police Station contacted Miller as he sat in his vehicle. Detectives developed probable cause and searched Miller’s vehicle. Inside the vehicle, detectives located 4.7 pounds of methamphetamine, half pound of heroin, 178 grams of fentanyl and 2430 Alprazolam pills. Detectives also seized various amount of ketamine, suboxone sublingual films, marijuana and approximately 16 ounces of Gamma Hydroxybutyrate (GHB). In addition to the narcotics, detectives found a loaded firearm inside the vehicle and evidence indicative of narcotic sales.
Based on the investigation, detectives arrested Miller for a variety of narcotic sale charges. Additionally, Miller’s previous felony convictions prohibit him from owning and or possessing any firearms or ammunition. Miller was also arrested for being a felon in possession of a loaded firearm and being under the influence of a controlled substance while in possession of a loaded firearm. Miller was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility and was later released after posting bail.

GHB is a central nervous system (CNS) depressant that is commonly referred to as a “club drug” or “date rape” drug. GHB is abused by teens and young adults and is extremely dangerous. Heroin, fentanyl and illegally obtained prescription medications are contributors to both fatal and non-fatal overdoses taking place in Ventura County. The Narcotics Unit is committed to aggressively target narcotics sales and help combat opiate/prescription medication overdoses in Ventura County.
