Narrative:
On August 12, 2020, detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Street Team concluded a narcotics sales investigation involving Paul Gonzales out of Port Hueneme, who was involved in the sales of narcotics to residents of Ventura County.

During the month of May 2020, detectives obtained information indicating Gonzales was involved in the sales of methamphetamine and cocaine in Ventura County.  Over the next couple of months, detectives began an investigation and gathered evidence on Gonzales and his illegal activities.  Detectives were subsequently able to obtain a search warrant for Gonzales, his vehicle and his residence located in the 1300 Block of Park Avenue in Port Hueneme.

On August 12, 2020, patrol deputies assigned to the Headquarters Station conducted a traffic enforcement stop on Gonzales as he left his residence and detained him pursuant to the search warrant. Detectives searched Gonzales’ vehicle and found over a half pound of methamphetamine inside the vehicle.  Gonzales was arrested and transported to the Headquarters Station for processing.

Following Gonzales’ arrest, detectives served the search warrant at his residence in Port Hueneme.  During the search of the residence, detectives found additional methamphetamine and evidence indicative of narcotic sales.  In all, detectives seized 2.7 pounds of methamphetamine, 3 pounds of marijuana, heroin and hydrocodone pills.  Additionally, detectives seized 10 rifles/firearms and approximately $50,000 believed to be narcotic sale proceeds.

Based on the investigation, Gonzales was arrested for various narcotic and firearms charges.  The firearms and narcotics found at the residence were not secured and were accessible to Gonzales’ young children who were present at the residence.  Gonzales was also arrested for child endangerment.  Detectives are following up on additional information and the investigation is ongoing.

Gonzales was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility and his bail was set at $500,000.  He is currently awaiting court proceedings.
