RED FLAG in the Truckee/Tahoe Area today, Extreme Fire Danger from Lightning, Strong Outflow winds and Dry Vegetation / Fire Update...

From NWS Reno:

Thunderstorms...Fast moving thunderstorms producing lightning and limited rainfall are possible this afternoon and evening.

* Outflow Winds...Gusts of 40 to 50 mph may occur near thunderstorms.

* Impacts...Lightning can create new fire starts and may combine with strong outflow winds to cause a fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity before first responders can contain them.

Loyalton Fire Update
Expect to see smoke North of Truckee from the Loyalton Fire. Fire was over 20k acres as of last night and moviing in a North/Northeast direction.  No Threat to Truckee.

Truckee Fire and other local fire agencies have sent resources (Fire engines, managers and paramedics) to the fire.

Get off the water and go inside a building or vehicle when you hear thunder or see lightning.

PREPARE TO EVACUATE on RED FLAG DAYS
Always be prepared to evacuate in Fire Season. Have a GO BAG ready with your important items, park fueled cars facing out, know two ways out of your neighborhood, pay attention to your phone for evacuation notices and GO EARLY, if you see smoke or think you should go.
