PG&E Rolling Blackouts Could Occur
Due to the extreme heat and the high demand for power, the California Independent System Operator (Cal ISO) and PG&E are announcing rolling blackouts across the state which could affect the Danville area.
Cal ISO operates the state's electric grid and the blackouts may be instituted due to the demand for energy exceeding the grid's supply. The rotating outages may occur from 3-10 pm each day from August 17-20.
Residents are asked to take steps to reduce power consumption whenever possible. These include:
Keep thermostat at 78 or above
Use a ceiling fan to augment the cooling of an AC unit
Do not use the oven to cook
Limit number of times opening refrigerator
Refrain from using major appliances from 3-10pm
Keep blinds closed on sunny side of home
According to Cal ISO, if a rotating outage is instituted, residents should have power restored within 2 hours.
