Sausalito's License Plate Recognition Cameras Lead to Another Stolen Vehicle Arrest
On Monday, August 17, 2020, at approximately 11:39 PM, the Sausalito Police Department received an alert from our License Plate Recognition Cameras of a stolen vehicle entering Sausalito from Spencer Avenue. The vehicle, a 2019 Toyota Camry, had been stolen from Daly City earlier that day.
Sausalito Police Officers immediately started to search for the vehicle. Officer Edgar Padilla located the vehicle parked at the top of Spencer Avenue near the east Spencer Park and Ride parking lot. There were multiple people standing outside the vehicle upon his arrival. All five subjects complied with the Officer Padilla’s orders and were detained during the investigation.
After further investigation officer were able to determine that Darwin Trochez-Gomez (a 20-year-old male out of San Francisco) was the driver of the vehicle. Trochez-Gomez was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and booked into the Marin County Jail. The other four subjects were released from the scene without charges. During the search of the vehicle a replica airsoft pistol was located and was taken for destruction.
