Evacuation Warning for Mill Creek Road in Fremont Remains Active
The Evacuation Warning issued on Monday, August 17, 2020, remains in place for the residences located between 9000 Mill Creek Road and 196 Mill Creek Road.
The decision to keep the Evacuation Warning in place is a proactive measure due to the potential of approaching fire danger, and current and projected weather conditions.
Residents in the impacted area should stay ready by packing necessary items and ensuring family members, pets and their vehicle are prepared for a possible sudden departure.
While there are no active wildfires in Fremont, the Fremont Fire Department continues to support the SCU Lightning Complex fire response in Sunol and unincorporated Alameda County, and will patrol the area towards the end of Mill Creek Road. Even though Alameda County is not currently operating under Red Flag Warning, fire danger remains high, air quality is forecast to be unhealthy, temperatures are elevated and due to the extreme heat throughout the state, the likelihood of rotating electric outages is a possibility.
Spare the Air Alerts Issued Through August 19th
The Bay Area Air Quality Management District, who already issued a Spare the Air Alert for wildfire smoke today, has also issued a Spare the Air Alert for tomorrow. The Spare the Air Alert for Wednesday, August 19, bans burning wood, manufactured fire logs, or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors.
Wildfire smoke from numerous fires sparked by lightning over the weekend is expected to cause elevated levels of particulate pollution in the Bay Area. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy and smoke impacts are possible throughout the region. It is illegal for Bay Area residents and businesses to use their fireplaces, wood stoves, pellet stoves, outdoor fire pits or any other wood-burning devices during a Spare the Air Alert for particle pollution.

PG&E Lookup Tool for CAISO Rotating Power Outages
In response to the California Independent System Operator’s (CAISO) urgent calls for consumers to conserve energy immediately in an effort to avert power outages, Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) has developed a tool to help customers see how they might be affected. Rotating outages are organized by circuit blocks dispersed across PG&E's service area and sequenced to minimize the amount of disruption for each customer. The online tool, www.pge.com/rotatingoutages, allows customers to look up their circuit block and sub-block using a table of forecasted outages for the day. With the heatwave expected to continue, PG&E strongly encourages all customers to continue conserving to reduce overall power demand.
