*UPDATE* #LASD Homicide Bureau Responding to Investigate the Shooting Death of a Man, 800blk S. Mayo Av, #Compton
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of a male Black adult that occurred on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at approximately 4:21 p.m., in the 800 block of South Mayo Avenue, Compton.
Detectives have learned that deputies assigned to Compton Sheriff’s Station responded to the location regarding a “gunshot victim” call.
Upon their arrival, deputies located the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the lower torso.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had been seated in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked along the curb when he was shot.
The incident appears to be gang related.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
